NET-A-PORTER has just launched its biggest ever campaign to mark Ramadan with exclusive capsule collections from 10 designers.
Erdem, Reem Acra, Oscar de la Renta, Safiyaa, Marchesa Notte, Jenny Packham, Zuhair Murad, Elie Saab, Etro and Mary Katrantzou have each created limited edition capsule collections specifically for NET-A-PORTER to mark Ramadan.
Elizabeth von der Goltz, Global Buying Director at NET-A-PORTER says, “During the past few years, our Middle Eastern customers have expressed increased interest in special pieces designed specifically for Ramadan, and our designer brands have responded with exceptional caftans, gowns and dresses tailored to the occasion. With more than 40 evening wear pieces to choose from, we know our customer will love this exquisite collection.”
“I am thrilled to partner with NET-A-PORTER on another special collaboration, this time in honor of Ramadan. I love designing with my Middle Eastern clients in mind as they are so modern and fashion forward – it allows me to be bold with print and color.
“We worked on a small capsule for this special collaboration with NET-A-PORTER because I feel a deep connection with Middle Eastern women. I think it’s the sense of family and a sense of warmth. In the end, fashion is a projection of a woman’s personality and the values that you have and I respect those of Middle Eastern women deeply. NET-A-PORTER inspires women in the Middle East to look at their culture and their roots and celebrate what they mean in the modern day. That’s why I am glad to be part of this project.”
“I am thrilled to create a capsule collection for the beautiful and dynamic women of the Middle East. Combining modern elements with vibrant colors, the dresses are dramatic and effortless- pure modern luxury.”
Oscar de la Renta, Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, Co-creative directors
“In designing our exclusive capsule for NET-A-PORTER, we took the opportunity to create unique versions of our signature caftan styles featuring the bold colors and intricate embroideries to which our Middle Eastern customer is drawn.”
“An exclusive silk paisley print realized for NET-A-PORTER. A meadow of flowers, in which the winddriven corollas form Paisleys that sway in soft and sinuous lines. A sort of “Paisley in bloom”, an explosion of a fresh pot-pourri of tiny florals votes to create a romantic whimsical feel. A night blue background with bougainvillea, lavender and cerise tones, ideal for a dancing garden party.”
Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Co-Founders, Marchesa
“The Middle Eastern woman has such an innate sense of style and we are thrilled to be partnering with NET-A-PORTER on an exclusive collection of kaftans. The four-piece capsule collection boasts dramatic caftans in rich jewel tones of royal blue, fuchsia and emerald that have luxe details such as hand-beaded embroidery and fringe detailing.”
“I am delighted to have designed a collection for NET-A-PORTER and our Middle Eastern customer. The exclusive capsule collection features bold colors, opulent prints and intricate embellishments, inspired by my travels to the Middle East. One of my favorite pieces from the collection is a silk chiffon Peacock Blue caftan with satin belt and hand embroidered, emerald and purple ombré sequined feather motifs.”
“This Spring Summer 18 caftan draws its inspiration from the ancient Greek goddess Hestia daughter of Titan Cronus and Rhea. She was known for her fluid and light gowns created in romantic shapes. To celebrate the myth, the design was created in lace inserts on the bust and pleated ruffles on the side of a long silk dress.”
ELIE SAAB floor length gown is crafted from Carmin Red silk chiffon and is embroidered with red beading and sequins at the shoulders. Long sleeves and a cape add a sophisticated touch for evening. The look is inspired from the Prefall 18 collection.
The Ramadan collection launches at NET-A-PORTER from April 23.
